British tennis player arrested on rape charge

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Authorities say a British tennis player attending Mississippi State University has been arrested and charged with rape and furnishing beer to a minor.

Oktibbeha County Chief Deputy George Carrithers says 20-year-old Christopher Richard Doerr was arrested Monday and remained in jail Tuesday under a $50,500 bond. Doerr is from London.

The woman who signed sworn statements against him is also 20. The sheriff's department did not release her name.
