Waukegan cops release robbery suspect's photo

Waukegan police have released the description and security photos of the suspect involved in the Nov. 7 robbery of NorStates Bank.

Police officials said a male in his 40s with a thin build, scruffy facial hair, and wearing jeans and a brown jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath, entered the bank at 1601 N. Lewis Ave., about 3:25 p.m. He presented the teller with a note, police said, and allegedly implied he had a gun, though no one reported seeing a firearm.

The teller handed over the money and the suspect fled south on Lewis. Police are unsure the amount given to the robber.

The brown jacket has been recovered, but police are still searching for the suspect.

Anyone who knows about the crime or recognizes the suspect in two surveillance photos is asked to contact the Waukegan Police Department at (847) 599-2608 or (847) 599-2947.
