Elgin man charged with sex abuse
Bail was set Friday at $100,000 for an Elgin man accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl.
Augustin Huerta, 26, of 115 College St., is charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony. If convicted, he could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison or probation, said Assistant State's Attorney Samuel Partida of the Kane County Child Advocacy Center.
Huerta, who appears to have no previous criminal history in Kane County, is accused of inappropriately touching a 12-year-old acquaintance on multiple occasions between Jan. 1 and Nov. 7, Partida said.
Unable to post bond, Huerta was being held Friday in the Kane County jail pending a Nov. 20 court appearance before Judge Grant S. Wegner.
