Briefs: Lights out on Fabyan Parkway all next week

Commuters should expect long delays on Fabyan Parkway next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as the Kane County Division of Transporation upgrades equipment from Route 31 to Kirk Road. Stop lights at various interections will be temporarily replaced by four-way stop signs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates: Fabyan Parkway at Route 25 on Nov. 18; Fabyan Parway at Route 31 on Nov. 19; Fabyan Parkway at Raddant Road on Nov. 20, and Fabyan Parkway at Kirk Road on Nov. 21.

Clerk's holiday hours

The Kane County Clerk's vital records division is changing its hours for the week of Thanksgiving. The office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 24 and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25. The office will be closed Nov. 26 and 27. Regular hours resume Dec. 1. For more information, call (630) 232-5950.

Award nominations wanted

Nominations are being accepted through 5 p.m. Friday for the 2009 Outstanding African-American Award given by the Aurora's African-American Heritage Advisory Board. Nominees should exhibit leadership, volunteerism and service that contributes to the advancement of the black community in Aurora. The recipient will be honored at a dinner on Feb. 5. IMSA accepting applications

Applications for the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Class of 2012 are available online at imsa.edu/admissions. Students enrolled in the equivalent of a freshman program are eligible for consideration to the three-year advanced college preparatory program. Students live on campus. Tuition and most room-and-board expenses are provided by state funds. Written applications must be postmarked no later than March 1. Students may obtain the applications online or contact their high school guidance counselor or IMSA's admissions office at (630) 907-5028.

Donate hearing aids

The Geneva Lions Club recycles hearing aids for refurbishment. To donate, drop off in one of 20 eyeglass/hearing aid boxes throughout Geneva and St. Charles. For box locations, visit genevalionsclub.org.

The Geneva Cultural Arts Commission is looking for sponsors for a fundraiser, "Dancing With the Geneva Stars." Six "celebrity" Geneva couples will compete Feb. 7 at the Eagle Brook Country Club.
