Wounded cop gets prosthetic eyes

BELLEVILLE -- A former Belleville police sergeant blinded after being shot in the face by a homicide suspect two years ago is making another advancement.

Jon Brough is getting prosthetic eyes, meaning he no longer will need dark sunglasses to hide the fact he has empty eye sockets.

Brough was permanently blinded and lost his senses of smell and taste in the November 2006 shooting by a cornered double-slaying suspect who later killed himself.

He has undergone several surgeries and still faces more.
