Teen accused of bomb threat out on bail

A Warren Township High School student accused by police of making a false bomb threat is out on bail, but banned from going near the school.

Billy R. Morrow, 17, of Lake Villa, posted $1,000 of a $10,000 cash bond Wednesday morning in Lake County's Waukegan courthouse.

Morrow, a senior at Warren's Almond Road campus, was arrested Monday at school. On Friday, Morrow delivered a computer printout, which he claimed to have found, to a Gurnee Police officer who was on campus on an unrelated case. The note warned there was a bomb in Room 139.

School personnel evacuated the area. A police search found no bomb and an investigation revealed the threat was a hoax.

Morrow is charged with giving a false bomb alarm, a Class 3 felony punishable by two to five years in prison, said Steve Scheller, chief of the felony review division for the Lake County State's Attorney's Office.

Lake County circuit court Judge Ray Collins ordered Morrow to have no contact with the school.

Morrow is set to appear in court Dec. 4 for a status hearing. A preliminary hearing date will likely be set at that time.
