'Aida' offers rock, reggae and gospel

With their version of Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida," Glenbard West High School students this weekend will perform a contemporary musical about star-crossed lovers in ancient Egypt.

Performances are schedualed for 7:30 p.m. tonight through Saturday, Nov. 13-15, and 2 p.m. Saturday at the high school, 670 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

Jackie Ortiz plays the title of Aida, a Nubian princess living as a slave among the Egyptian royal family.

Other cast members are Parks Payton, Erica Stephan, Sean Jackson, Conor Owens, James Hartnett, Erika Harris, Darrel Douglas, Nick Agro, Danny Baldwin, Jarred Bayless, Zach Carlstrom, Alex Cooper, Cory Evans, Denis Iradakunda, John Jacobs, Ben Jacobson, Paul Nicholson, Mylo Reyes, Sean Riordan, Trevor Snodell, Kevin Vondrak, Andrew Van Gorp, Tamara Agger, M.E. Barker, Maddie Brady, Phoebe Borkowski, Emily Crowe, Valerie Davis, Nicole Darnell, Kathy Dorn, Cassandra McDuff, Jackie Nagel, Teresa Novak, Madeline Raudbe, Abbie Reifel, Annie Russell, Emily Schumacher, Kim Stafford and Nikki Yuson.

The show is directed by Michael Fox with technical direction by Rob Matz.
