Treasurer proposes Obama resolution
The Illinois treasurer wants the state's General Assembly to pass a resolution honoring President-elect Barack Obama.
State treasurer Alexi Giannoulias is proposing the plan and says he'd like the resolution to be considered this week in the Illinois Senate, where Obama once served.
Giannoulias says people across Illinois are proud of Obama and the resolution would mark that pride.
The treasurer says his resolution would show respect for Obama and possibly "inspire other people to maybe run for office."
