Seven seeking spots on Glen Ellyn village board
Seven Glen Ellyn residents are seeking spots on the village board.
Peter Cooper, Robert Friedberg, Diane McGinley, Phillip Hartweg, Carl Henninger, Joseph Salamunovich and Chris Wilson are competing for three village trustee seats that'll open up in spring.
In Glen Ellyn, an organization called the Civic Betterment Party slates candidates for village offices during a town meeting held several months before the election.
This year's town meeting is scheduled for Nov. 22 at the civic center. Residents are encouraged to attend and vote on which names should appear on the ballot. Voting will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and candidates will speak from 11 a.m. to noon.
Alex Demos, chairman of the nominating committee for the Civic Betterment Party, said he's impressed by every candidate.
"It's absolutely as widespread as it could be," Demos said. "There's people from every occupation and from every part of town and walk of life. There should be nobody who can't relate to a specific candidate here."
