Marion to get new truck terminal
MARION -- An East St. Louis-based trucking company says it's expanding to Marion, meaning it'll need to hire 100 drivers.
Marion Mayor Bob Butler says Beelman Truck Co. will make a capital investment in the city and is buying 29 acres of land near Interstate 57.
Butler says many of the 100 drivers the company plans to initially hire will live in Marion or the area.
Sam Beelman says he'd been talking about expanding his business to Marion for the past couple of years. He expects construction on the new terminal there to be done by next spring.
Beelman's grandfather founded the company 102 years ago.
