Judge dismisses U.S. Rep. Davis' traffic ticket

A judge has dismissed a 2007 traffic ticket issued to U.S. Rep. Danny Davis.

The Democratic congressman from Illinois had protested the ticket, claiming it was the result of racial profiling. Police gave him a ticket on Nov. 19 of last year, alleging he swerved over the center line.

Davis says he was stopped and ticketed because he is black.

The 67-year-old Davis said he was on his way home from co-hosting his Sunday late-night radio talk show, "Talking to the People," and was driving with three black passengers when he was stopped.

He says he did nothing wrong.

The ticket was dismissed after testimony from one of officers involved.

Chicago police opened an investigation of Davis' claim shortly after the incident.
