Therapy dog at Dundee Twp. library
Children are invited to come to the Dundee Township Public Library and read to Toby, a Tibetan terrier, who will visit the children's department from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, a school holiday.
Children in kindergarten and older will be able to read aloud to Toby, a certified therapy dog, and Toby's owner, Robin Seigle. Seigle volunteers her dog and her time to help boost a child's confidence in reading aloud.
Reservations are limited to a 15-minute session per child. Stop in the library at 555 Barrington Ave. in East Dundee to signup or call (847) 428-3661, ext. 310, for more information or to reserve a spot.
Also on Tuesday, Nov. 11, discover the mysterious world of owls as ornithologist Mark Spreyer presents the "Who's Who of Owls" at 2 p.m. in the library's meeting room. Spreyer is the director of the Stillman Nature Center in Barrington.
He will reveal the truth about North American owls, explain about owls' amazing hunting techniques and introduce some special feathered guests to illustrate just who's who!
The program is for school-age children. Free tickets will be available at 1:30 p.m. on the day of the performance which begins at 2 p.m.
