2 dead in central Illinois house fire

GIBSON CITY -- Two teenagers are dead after an overnight fire in a small central Illinois town.

Ford County Coroner Doug Wallace says 13-year-old Madisyn Moore and 14-year-old Shanna Radakovich were found in the basement of a home in Gibson City early Tuesday. The fire was reported just before 5 a.m.

Gibson City Police Chief Steve Cushman says two adults in the home escaped after they were awoken by a smoke detector. The adults were treated at a local hospital and released. One was Moore's mother.

Authorities say the girls were having a sleep-over at Moore's house.

Police and fire investigators were still at the home late Tuesday morning.

Gibson City is about 30 miles northwest of Champaign.
