Shared driveways a problem in Elgin

The city of Elgin needs to address the problem of shared driveways. Years ago when many homes in Elgin were built, it was not uncommon to share your driveway with your neighbor, who in many cases was also your friend. However, in this day and age, many people do not even know their neighbor or even speak to them. This can bring up numerous problems, such as blocking the driveway, fighting with neighbors, and, in some cases, even lawsuits.

The laws that govern these shared driveways need to be updated to avoid these problems which can sometimes be serious. Also, real estate agents need to make this issue very clear to the people they are selling these homes to in order to avoid problems in the future.
