Peoria teen charged with attempted murder

PEORIA -- Authorities in Peoria are holding a 19-year-old man on an attempted murder charge in a double shooting that occurred late last month.

Police say they arrested Darius Stewart early Sunday morning.

Stewart is accused of shooting 26-year-old Lamar Howard, and 25-year-old Jay C. Brown, both of Peoria, during a quarrel late on the night of Oct. 26.

Howard was found lying on a kitchen floor suffering from three gunshot wounds to the lower body and Brown made it into a bedroom, where he was found lying between the bed and a dresser suffering from five gunshot wounds.

They were both treated for their injuries at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
