Des Plaines job draws interest

Dick Sayad, who served Des Plaines as 4th Ward alderman for eight years, said Friday he has formed an exploratory committee and is considering a run for mayor. He expects to make a decision in another week or so after consulting with family and friends. It's expected that there will be intense competition for the job, as the popular incumbent, Tony Arredia, has to step aside due to term limits. Last week, Mike Lake announced he is running for the post.

Dist. 62 tests AlertNow today

Des Plaines Elementary District 62 will test their new AlertNow Notification Service today, Nov. 10; by sending parents a test message between 6-7 p.m. to make sure it works. AlertNow allows the district to send parents telephone or email messages in the event of a school emergency. District officials anticipate using AlertNow to notify parents and staff of school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather. In the event of an emergency when school is in session, parents and staff will be informed immediately by phone. This "test" call will be sent to each parent or guardian's primary or home number. If you don't get the message, update your contact information with the school secretary. Visit alertnow@d62.org. for more details.
