Car plows into two pedestrians in Hanover Park, killing one

A vehicle that hit two pedestrians, one of them in a wheelchair, during Friday evening's rush hour left one person dead and sent the other to the hospital.

The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. at Barrington Road and Irving Park Road near Bristol Lane in Hanover Park.

Two people were struck by a vehicle headed north on Barrington Road, according to a release issued by the Hanover Park Police Department.

Kyu Hong Chang, 48, of Chicago was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates where he died at 5:30 p.m. as a result of the crash. A 58-year-old unidentified man that Chang was with was also taken to the hospital.

Hanover Park police are investigating the accident. They said no one is in custody as a result of the crash and they do not expect to file charges against the driver. Police would not release further details.
