Holy Name Cathedral reopens for daily Mass
After months of being closed for structural and safety repairs, the spiritual home for Chicago Catholics will again be open each day for Mass.
Archdiocese officials say Holy Name Cathedral will begin daily Mass on Monday, Nov. 17.
Restoration and repair work to the 133-year-old building has been going on since February.
Engineers determined that structural weaknesses in the roof had caused a 10-pound piece of decorative wood to fall 70 feet from the ceiling. No one was injured in the incident.
The cathedral has been open for weekend Masses and weddings since late August.
Officials say some "preventative measures" are still in progress.
