Judson lecture series to host noted theologian
The first Edgar Boss Lecture Series will take place the week of Nov. 17 and feature visiting scholar Dr. Fisher Humphreys. Dr. Humphreys is a noted Baptist theologian and professor emeritus of Systematic Theology from Beeson Divinity School, Samford University of Birmingham, Ala.
The series includes Dr. Humphreys delivering the messages at chapel on Monday, Nov. 17, on the theme "The Will of God," and on Wednesday, Nov. 19, on the theme of forgiveness.
Chapel takes place at 10 a.m. in the Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St., Elgin, and is open to the public.
Dr. Humphreys will be the featured guest for a Pastor's Luncheon and Dialogue that begins at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Eagle Lounge, Lindner Tower, at Judson's Elgin campus. The luncheon will provide a "question and answer" forum with Humphreys providing guidance and theological perspective for area pastors.
During the three-day lecture series Dr. Humphreys will also speak with select classes and student groups. Judson faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a lecture on the relationship between faith and science. This lecture will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the Science Lab 104 on Judson's Elgin campus.
The Edgar Boss Lecture Series honors the late Dr. Edgar Boss, Judson's founding dean of the academic programs. The Lecture Series is sponsored by Dr. Albert and Edith Lambert, retired missions executives for the Pacific Southwest, American Baptist Churches of Highland, Calif.
