Grayslake massage parlor owner charged with prostitution
A 55-year-old Round Lake Beach woman was arrested and charged with one count of prostitution after allegedly trying to exchange sex for money at the Grayslake massage parlor she owns, police officials said.
OK H. Kim, 55, of the 400 block of Meadow Hill Lane in Round Lake Beach was released from Lake County jail after posting 10 percent of her $5,000 bond, Grayslake Police Chief Larry Herzog said.
He said officers from Grayslake, Lake Villa and Round Lake Park set up a sting operation at the OK Spa massage parlor at 1860 N. Route 83 on Oct. 29.
He said authorities investigated the parlor following reports from residents of suspicious activities taking place there.
Kim was taken into custody without incident following her arrest, Herzog said.
"Our records indicate this is the first prostitution arrest ever made in Grayslake," Herzog said. "This type of thing exists everywhere, but we certainly didn't think it was happening here in Grayslake.
Kim was ordered by a judge to not operate as a massage therapist and the massage parlor was ordered closed following the arrest.
Herzog also said the village is working to revoke the business license of the massage parlor and working with the state to permanently revoke Kim's massage license.
