U.S. was ready long ago to elect a black

I am tired of hearing Barack Obama supporters repeatedly saying "America was finally able to elect an African-American as president."

For the last 30 years, America was ready and willing to elect an African-American as president.

The problem is, there was never one available whose views represented those of most Americans.

Let's hope Obama delivers on what he says.
