Book Road plan may cause big problems
I am writing in regards to the proposed Book Road extension.
I have many concerns with the serious issues the extension will cause. The main issue is safety and privacy.
The residents on Coneflower Drive will be squeezed between two main roads. This will greatly compromise the quality of life due to increased danger of health and safety of residents along with increased pollution levels.
Where in Naperville can you find residents jammed so closely between two high traffic roads as this project would allow? The traffic will be a major safety concern for children and pets.
Another concern is the destruction of the River View Forest Preserve. Naperville has provided a beautiful preserve for animals to live and people to enjoy. This road would destroy the beauty and serenity of the area.
In the past year I have had deer in my backyard numerous times. These same deer will end up being roadkill if the road goes through. I have had large turtles wandering through my yard all summer. What will be their odds of surviving their next journey? Wildlife will lose its safe haven.
Most disturbing is the road is not even necessary. The widening of Naper/Plainfield should eliminate traffic concerns.
It has also been brought to my attention that Southpoint subdivision (mostly Plainfield) needs another exit. Then the engineers should work up a plan that allows Southpoint an exit through their subdivision that would better serve the needs of both communities.
Whenever progress (or lack of it in this case) goes against nature, nature usually loses.
Naperville has set a higher standard then other communities. Please continue to do the right thing and scrap this unnecessary road plan.
