Rolling Meadows, Fremd students win photo content
Susie Miller of Rolling Meadows High School and Ashley Thompson of Fremd High School won this year's Student Photography awards at Rolling Meadows Library. Both high schools exhibited their student photos in the library's main floor display cases for everyone to see and take notice. This week the photographer teachers, Amanda Thomas of Rolling Meadows High School and Jerry Cargill of Fremd High School judged each other's student works.
Amanda Thomas, photography teacher at Rolling Meadows High School, selecting Ashley Thompson as the winner of Fremd High School's exhibit, said, "Ashley's photo had a strong composition and excellent value. I thought it was tremendous to see the expression and interaction captured in the photo."
Jerry Cargill, Fremd High School Art Department, selecting Susie Miller of Rolling Meadows High School, stated: "I thought that Susie Miller's photograph of a girl leaning against chemical drums was excellent. The composition struck me as very bold, unbalanced to cause some tension, and leaves the viewer to fill in the blanks. The printing faithfully brought forth the textures, addressing shadow and highlighted areas."
Both students and their teachers will be recognized with certificates and gift cards during the Arts Alive Concert at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Rolling Meadows Library.
