Voters return Tredup to Kane 22nd district

Voters by a large margin decided they wanted a familiar face to remain in the Kane County Board's 22nd district seat.

Incumbent Jackie Tredup, a Republican, beat challenger Democrat Ed Rzeppa with 4,457 votes to his 3,081, according to unofficial results.

Tredup credited her win to her lengthy record of working for the district, as well as a new campaign strategy that meant more face time with voters.

"I felt that this was a time the Democrats thought they were going to take everything, so I know it meant walking from door to door," said Tredup, first elected in 1996. "There wasn't a night I didn't walk."

Both said they ran to tackle traffic issues and overdevelopment in the district, which covers southwest Elgin Township.
