Mountsier coasts in Lake District 17
Veteran board member Stevenson Mountsier had little trouble putting away Democratic challenger Denise Rotheimer in District 17.
With ballots in all 25 precincts counted, results showed Mountsier with 8,933 votes and Rotheimer with 5,624 votes.
Mountsier, a Lake Barrington Republican, has served on the county board and forest board for 12 years, and earned another 4-year term Tuesday.
It was the first campaign for Rotheimer, an unemployed insurance agent and victim's rights advocate from Barrington.
The district is in southwestern Lake County.
