Jung ousted in McHenry Co. District 5
John Jung, a Republican from Woodstock and the vice chairman of the McHenry County Board, lost his re-election bid Tuesday, according to unofficial results late Tuesday.
Jung was beat out by Paula Yensen, a Democrat from Lake in the Hills. Virginia Peschke, a Republican from Bull Valley, won re-election in the district.
Frank Wedig, a Green Party candidate from Woodstock, came in last. Peschke earned 12,259 votes, followed by Yensen with 12,181 votes, Jung with 10,851 votes and Wedig with 3,068 votes, according to unofficial totals.
Yensen attributed her win to a Democratic wave and good old-fashioned campaigning. "I've knocked on over 8,000 doors," she said. "I think it's just hard work."
