31 St. Charles businesses nominated
The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce recently announced that 31 businesses/organizations have been nominated by fellow St. Charles Chamber of Commerce members for the Small Business of the Year Award. Two finalists will be chosen, one each in the categories of Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer, and will be announced at the "State of the Chamber" annual breakfast on Thursday, Nov. 13 at Pheasant Run Resort. One winner will be announced as the Small Business of the Year on Jan. 23 at the Chamber of Commerce's 87th Charlemagne Annual Awards Dinner at Pheasant Run Resort.

Richeson, Attorney, C.P.A.; Graham's Fine Chocolates & Ice Cream; J.C. Olson & Associates; J.C. Schultz Flagsource; JRD Development; KaBloom; Kwik Kopy Printing of St. Charles; Main Street Car Wash; Martopia; Marlin Environmental Inc.; O'Donnell Commercial Real Estate Inc.; Robert W. Overdorf, DDS, LTD; Solutions Networking Corporation; Something 2 Dance 2; St. Charles Bowl; St. Charles Memorial Works; Thompson Auto Supply; Trademan Photography; Tranquility Skin & Body Care Center; Vertical Drop Ski & Patio; and Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles.
Nominees must be a member in good standing of the St. Charles Chamber, be privately held, have less than 75 employees (or the equivalent in man-hours worked), have been in business more than four years, and have annual sales that meet or exceed $100,000. Judges use the following criteria: outstanding growth; new and/or innovative business approaches; accomplishments; community involvement; and additional information that sets the organization apart from typical standards. The final winner will receive a special award at the Charlemagne Annual Awards Dinner, have a featured article and photo on the St. Charles Chamber Web site, and have its organization name added to a perpetual plaque in the chamber office.
