N. Chicago men charged in cocaine bust
Two North Chicago men are held in the Lake County jail after being arrested with what officials say was more than $200,000 worth of cocaine.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Suzanne Willett said Armando Hernandez-Limon and Javier Zavala, both 26, of 1237 Jackson St., each face up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
Willett said the two were arrested about 12:40 a.m. after Waukegan police served a search warrant on their residence. She said officers discovered six kilograms, or more than 13 pounds, of cocaine worth approximately $210,000 on the street.
She said it was the largest single-incident seizure of cocaine in the county since nearly five pounds was confiscated in an October 2005 arrest.
Willett said police also found cutting agents, scales, kilo presses and other drug paraphernalia inside the house, along with a loaded .38 caliber revolver.
Hernandez-Limon and Zavala were ordered held on $500,000 bond. Zavala is due in court Nov. 7, while Hernandez-Limon is scheduled to appear Nov. 20.
If convicted of possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver, the pair face mandatory prison sentences of 15 to 60 years, Willett said.
