4 charged in Halloween Hanover Park stabbings

Things would have been better for all concerned, it seems, had Luis Galvez, Jose Nunez, Candido Rosales and Jorge Blanco gone straight home after celebrating Halloween at a party Friday in Hanover Park.

Instead, authorities said the four young men, ranging in age from 17 to 20, got into a brawl that ended with all four of them facing charges and three people being stabbed.

Three of the men - Galvez, 17, of 1917 Poplar, Hanover Park; Nunez, 20, of 724 Lacy, Streamwood; and Rosales, 19, of 505 Tanglewood, Hanover Park - charges of aggravated battery and mob action. Authorities say they beat and stabbed the three victims, who were treated at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with non-life-threatening injuries.

Blanco, 20, of the 7078 Hemlock, Hanover Park, was charged with mob action in the melee, which took place just before 2 a.m. Saturday, in the 6800 block of Plumtree Lane in Hanover Park, authorities said.

Monday, Cook County Judge Hyman Reibman set bond at $100,000 each for Galvez, Rosales and Nunez, on whom U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed an immigration hold. Reibman set Blanco's bond at $40,000.

Reibman also imposed special conditions, including a curfew and a ban on the men contacting witnesses. Their next court date is Nov. 21.

Police said the case is unrelated to a stabbing that occurred inside a Barrington Road Halloween store on Oct. 26 that left two people injured. In that case, police said they've charged Rasool A. Haleem, 22, of 1074 Fulton in Streamwood, with mob action and battery. The two victims in that case have been released from the hospital, police said.
