Police identify woman killed in Huntley accident
An East Dubuque woman was killed in the Huntley crash Friday afternoon that also took her husband and son to the hospital.
Police on Saturday identified the victim in the fatal crash as Tabitha Carroll, 32. Her husband, Randolph, 37, was flown to St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, and their son Gabriel, 3, was flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
The three-vehicle accident occurred at 1:20 p.m. on Route 47 at the Jane Addams Tollway. The road was closed until evening while Huntley police investigated the crash.
The accident occurred in the southbound lanes of Route 47 and involved an Illinois Department of Transportation dump truck, a blue Ford F-150 and a trailer truck hauling corn.
Carroll died when the pickup she was riding in was crushed between the trailer truck and the IDOT vehicle.
Police said the IDOT vehicle, occupied by John Manella of Geneva and Joseph Monachello of Kirkland, was stopped in traffic on the bridge over I-90. The pickup was stopped behind it.
The driver of the truck, Jeffrey Repec of Spring Grove, was driving south on the road when he rammed into the pickup and pushed it into the IDOT vehicle.
The two IDOT workers and the driver of the truck were uninjured.
Police said the accident is still under investigation and no tickets have been issued.
