Wolves fall short at Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa - Left wing Colin Stuart potted his third goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 in the early minutes of the second period, but the Chicago Wolves allowed a power-play goal later in the third period and never recovered, suffering a 2-1 loss to the Iowa Chops at the Wells Fargo Arena on Friday night.

Iowa took the lead for good at 2-1 with 11:16 remaining, when right wing Bobby Ryan redirected a blocked shot past a sprawled-out Wolves goalie Ondrej Pavelec. Pavelec (5-3-1) posted 26 saves on 28 shots in the loss, and has allowed just 14 goals in nine games to start the season, which includes 2 shutouts. The Chops opened scoring eight minutes into the first period. Left wing Drew Miller broke away at center ice, drove into the Wolves' zone and flipped a shot by Pavelec.

The Wolves (5-2-1-1) drew even at 2:52 of the second Right wing Joey Crabb set up the screen in front of the net and Stuart fired a shot through the legs of Iowa goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur, who recorded 25 saves on 26 shots.
