Warren referendum a win-win situation
I and my husband are property owners in Gurnee and the parents of two daughters who currently attend Warren High School. Jaime is a senior and is a very successful student. She will be very well prepared for college due to the honors and AP classes she has taken at Warren. Her younger sister, Alyssa, is a freshman. If this referendum does not pass, her class will not have enough classroom space at the Almond campus. It is likely that classes will be cut (Honors and AP classes?), graduation requirements will be lowered and students will be limited in the number of classes they can take. All of these cuts will give her fewer opportunities for the same high quality education that her older sister received.
If the referendum passes the tax rate will be lowered. If it does not pass, the bonds will be refinanced and the tax rate will remain the same. How can people oppose this referendum when the tax rate will be lowered, it provides needed safety improvements and new classrooms for our children, and ultimately increases the value of living in Gurnee?
