Stand behind your favorite candidate
I'll be happy if Obama wins because I believe in what he can offer in change, and in presidential leadership. I support him and his views. Consequently, I'm doing all that I can to encourage, support, convince others, and be willing to share my views while listening respectfully and attentively to those may not share mine.
Yes, I'll be happy if Obama wins, but extremely disappointed if he doesn't, because I will have a nagging, possibly true, feeling that the Palins and McCains of this country will have hit the racist and terrorist buttons for a number of voters.
I've already done early voting in Palatine, so that's one positive step. I urge others who may share my feelings to contact local organizing campaigns and show up ready to canvass, to talk in casual street encounters, to listen politely and with respect to others' opinions (usually a needed step in getting to articulate your own), and to care about this election enough to get proactive. Because if you, like I, support and believe in Obama, you need, this time, and in the future, to care about voting, to get to the polls. In fact, no matter where you stand, you should be doing this, and actively supporting the candidates of your choice. For me, it's Barack Obama.
