Cops: Three Carpentersville burglaries may be linked
Carpentersville police have alerted Neighborhood Watch groups after discovering a pattern in a number of recent residential burglaries.
Cmdr. Tim Bosshart said three burglaries, which took place between Aug. 16 and Oct. 21, all occurred in proximity on the village's west side.
"Three burglaries on the west side is not unusual," Bosshart said. "But these had similar methods of entry and the same types of items stolen."
The first burglary, Bosshart said, took place on the 5000 block of Hawkwood Court around 1 a.m. Aug. 16. Entry through the home was made through the back patio door. Jewelry, computers, electronics, coins and alcohol were swiped, Bosshart said.
Six weeks later, a home on the 400 block of Harbor was broken into around 4:30 p.m., police said. The burglar entered the home through the patio door, taking similar items.
And early on Oct. 21, a home on the 4000 block of Breezeland was robbed. Entry was made through a window in the back of the home, Bosshart said. Again, jewelry, computers, electronics and coins were stolen.
In both the burglaries on Hawkwood and Breezeland, the homes' garage doors were left open by the offender, Bosshart said.
Alerts were put out to block captains Friday.
Nearby West Dundee has not seen any residential burglaries in the last three months, police said Friday.
Carpentersville police are currently investigating the matter, and believe the burglaries may be linked.
"Typically once we catch a burglar, we free up 50 burglaries," said Bosshart.
