Our chance to elect a smart president
This election gives the people of America the opportunity to demonstrate several things to themselves and the world. We have an opportunity to elect someone that is intellectually curious, who looks at every angle as a possibility to resolve a problem, has the ability and faith in themselves to make a cerebral, not gut-based decision. We can elect someone we respect and not someone we want to have a beer with.
I for one want my president to be smarter than me. We have an opportunity to show that we have matured as a nation and we can look beyond race and elect someone based on features other than how they look or their racial background.
We have an opportunity to elect someone who is inspiring and articulate, who can lead and inspire by example. Someone that can speak to America and the world in proper and complete sentences. Someone who can lead and inspire younger Americans to get involved because they will be inheriting a large debt. Someone that proves true the story our parents told us that "anyone from any background could grow up to be president."
Lastly we have an opportunity to elect a candidate who has run a campaign based on issues and not just negative campaigning with a tone of "Don't vote for the other guy because they are no good" or with slander and labels. We can send a strong message to our politicians that negative campaigns don't work, so stop it. Vote Obama. Roger J. Bianco Sr.
