Negative campaigning drags everybody down

Greetings. I have supported Sid Mathias since he was first elected mayor of Buffalo Grove. I am supporting Sid Mathias now to continue as our state representative.

I am shocked by the scare tactics, half-truths and outright lies presented by his opponent in her TV commercial and the mailers we have received at home.

Sid Mathias has always conducted himself as an honest, dedicated public servant who has devoted his efforts to the betterment of our community. I don't appreciate his opponent slandering him as opposed to concentrating on the issues. I feel we all lose when negative campaigning becomes the accepted norm and creating unfounded fear of opponents becomes our road to success.

We should elect our politicians for what they stand for not for an untrue picture they paint of their opponents.
