Lake Zurich police looking for home invasion suspect

Lake Zurich police are searching for a man who allegedly used an unlocked garage door to enter a townhouse on Lake Breeze Court early Thursday morning.

Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said police were dispatched to the townhouse where an unnamed victim said he walked into his kitchen and saw the offender standing there. Finlon said the offender fled after being confronted by the homeowner.

Officers used dogs to search for the suspect. However, the suspect had escaped.

"We are not sure if there was a physical scuffle between the offender and the homeowner or not," Finlon said. "That's something we are still investigating."

He said police still are trying to pin down a description of the offender.

"But, this should be a reminder telling people to lock all doors and windows to avoid this type of incident, no matter how safe you think you might be," he said.
