Ind. parolee charged in restaurant slaying

An Indiana parolee has been charged with first-degree murder and robbery in the slaying of a Chicago restaurant manager.

Fifty-year-old David Sidener of Evansville, Ind., is being held without bail in the killing of Randall Hilderbrand at Lucca's Restaurant, in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.

Prosecutors say Sidener and Hilderbrand left a bar together on Oct. 14 and went to the restaurant, where Hilderbrand was going to make a meal.

They say Sidener followed Hilderbrand to the basement, where he allegedly beat Hilderbrand and tied him up before stealing money. Hilderbrand's body was found the next day.

Prosecutors say Sidener gave police a videotaped confession. He's on parole for a 1998 attempted murder and intimidation conviction in Indiana.
