Briefs: Wreath sales conclude
The Geneva Music Boosters are selling Christmas wreaths, door and mailbox swags, mantelpiece decorations, 25-foot roping and centerpieces. Township brush pickup
The final St. Charles Township brush pickup date is Monday. Unincorporated St. Charles residents should call the township road district office at (630) 584-3496 by today and leave their address if they have brush to be picked up.
Firewood sale in Geneva
The Geneva Beautification Committee is selling firewood by the bundle or by the face cord. The firewood sale raises money to buy flowers for downtown Geneva gardens the group maintains. Bundles are $5, and are available at the Geneva City Hall parking lot near the utility bill payment box (between City Hall and Viking Office Supply.) A face cord can also be delivered to your home. Cost is $90 for the wood and $30 for the delivery fee. Stacking is an additional $20. Call Jim Gehring at (630) 208-9453.
Award nominations wanted
Nominations are being accepted through 5 p.m. Nov. 21 for the 2009 Outstanding African-American Award given by the Aurora's African-American Heritage Advisory Board. Nominees should exhibit leadership, volunteerism and service that contributes to the advancement of the black community in Aurora. The recipient will be honored at a dinner Feb. 5. Calling all crafters

The Geneva Cultural Arts Commission is looking for sponsors for a fundraiser, "Dancing With the Geneva Stars." Six "celebrity" Geneva couples will compete Feb. 7 at the Eagle Brook Country Club.
