Skiles remains Nocioni admirer

Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles' appreciation for Andres Nocioni hasn't diminished since the move to Wisconsin.

Before Tuesday's game, Skiles said he didn't have a problem with Nocioni's rough foul on Bucks forward Richard Jefferson last Friday in a preseason contest. But Skiles also understands why Nocioni bothers some opponents.

"I answered that question many times down the hallway," Skiles said. "I know that's his reputation and some guys in the league believe that. He definitely plays a physical game.

"I think for him it's necessary to play that type of game. That's his style. That's how he survives and thrives in the league. But I also know that other players feel like he may give a little extra sometimes. It all depends on where you're sitting, I suppose."

Jefferson took exception to Nocioni's chop across the arms and a brief shoving match ensued, resulting in technical fouls for Jefferson, Kirk Hinrich and Bucks guard Luke Ridnour.

"It was a hard foul," Skiles said. "I didn't have an issue with really that whole episode, really. Guys were competing a little bit in an exhibition game. I didn't see any harm in any of it."

Three chosen as captains: The Bulls named Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng and Drew Gooden as team captains. Coach Vinny Del Negro said captain selection was a mutual decision after meeting with the players individually Monday.

"I felt that way and most of the team did, so that was an easy decision," Del Negro said. "I do take it very seriously. I think it's important, especially with a young team like ours, that our captains show leadership. Not only during games, but in preparation and practice and things."

Milwaukee cut former Bulls forward Adrian Griffin and claimed Austin Croshere on waivers from Indiana. ... Scott Skiles, before Tuesday's game, on Bulls rookie Derrick Rose: "I wouldn't have any problem believing that he'll be one of the better guards in the league in short order." ... Rose agreed to an endorsement deal with Wilson Sporting Goods.
