Obama should say enough is enough
I just about fell out of my chair today when I heard that the Obama campaign raised $150 million in September alone. McCain fell way short of that but raised a ton also.
The report further said the $150 million was more than the combined Bush and Gore campaigns spent in total.
If the current noise level is any indicator, I'm assuming the DNC will turn right around and spend the $150 million right on top of the gobs they've already spent. Feels like election business as usual, but on steroids.
Forget the economic disaster we're in. No price is too high to pay to capture the White House. However, paying that price while we're bailing out just about everyone in sight is totally at odds with the mantra of "The Change We Need."
Here's a suggestion for the Obama campaign, since they hung their hats on change first and continue to trumpet it the loudest. They can easily dig up enough money out of one of their many overloaded bags and buy about 5 minutes of prime television time. That's all this suggestion would require. Sen. Obama could then use that time to truly break the mold and tell everyone he has way more than enough, to stop putting their money where his mouth is by sending any more to him and to go out and actually help the economy by buying a television set or a washing machine or a pair of sneakers.
Now that would truly be change.
