Leaders with answers would be best change

Deficit spending is crippling the economy and mortgaging our children's future. Yet, despite the burgeoning debt crisis, you and I are flooded with promises from Obama and McCain that can never be paid for, ranging from "affordable housing" to free health care.

We live in a world of unlimited wants but limited resources. True, we may "deserve" these commodities, but we cannot afford them. Our current fiscal policy is simply unsustainable. Sooner or later, we or our children will pay the price for our living beyond our means.

Meanwhile, it is politics as usual. Worried about the election instead of America's future, rest assured our finance-savvy leaders will continue to make promises they cannot keep. America currently has $53 trillion in unfunded liabilities (roughly $175,000 per individual), and that number is increasing at a staggering rate. We don't need more spending; we need solutions-and fast. Our national debt clock recently ran out of zeros, and our mammoth-sized Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security obligations are knocking at the door.

Please, let's abandon our insatiable appetite for wholesale politics and demand some real answers from our leaders. Real spending cuts, balanced budgets, and fiscal responsibility. That's the real change America needs.
