Enforce traffic laws to make road safer
I am a student of the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. Everyday, I take I-355 from 75th Street to Butterfield Road. Recently with the continuation of construction, the highway has become extremely dangerous. Although the work zone speed limit is posted throughout, many drivers are breaking this law and most do not suffer the consequences.
For the 650 drivers ticketed in work zones so far this year in DuPage County, only 95 have received serious fines.
The other 555 were either dismissed or had their fines reduced. As a frequent commuter and citizen of DuPage County, I am shocked to learn the Court's lenient rulings on these cases. By enforcing these laws and prosecuting violators with the proper consequences, highways will become safer and less stressful. The safety of drivers will once again be secured under work zone speed limits.
