Bean should lead on renewable energy
When reading about their plans for dealing with the energy crisis in the Oct. 6 article "Bean, Greenberg square off on energy," I was surprised to discover that Melissa Bean's solution to lower the U.S.'s reliance on foreign oil and move us out of energy crisis seems no better than Greenberg's.
Both candidates support nuclear energy, drilling, wind and solar ... as we get closer to the election, it's getting harder to tell them apart. As a strong supporter of Obama, I would expect Bean to be more of a leader on renewable energy and global warming. I would like to see Bean embrace her position within Congress and put forth the ideals that got her elected.
She claims "there's no silver bullet" that would decrease gas prices and our need for foreign oil overnight, but it if that's the case, then I'd like to hear a long-term plan.
