Vote yes to halt a raise in taxes
I am a member of FreeUs. It has be affirmed that our position regarding the placement of the referendum to dissolve the municipal corporation of the village of Campton Hills was correct and is on the Nov. 4 ballot. The circuit court and electoral board have affirmed this position.
Our position regarding disconnections has always been that those that choose to disconnect and meet the legal requirements should have been disconnected without legal challenge.
Recently the circuit court and Illinois Appellate Court has affirmed this position. We also wanted to review the finances of the corporation to determine if it was financially feasible to operate a municipal corporation with the reduced revenue from the disconnections. Again we believe that we have been affirmed by the village testimony ("allowing them out harms the village") and the court's response "The village could raise taxes."
Our track record is clear and consistent. The corporation, on the other hand, is frantically trying to keep the pending disconnection areas. Once the judge rules on all the disconnections, I believe the corporation will have no other option than to raise your taxes down the road, unless bankruptcy is a viable option.
Do you really think any layer of government is free? Visualize a referendum to raise taxes. The future is now, vote yes to dissolve and prevent tax increases.
