Briefs: U-46 nominating petitions available

Nominating forms for the April 7 school board election for Elgin Area School District U-46 are now available. Forms may be picked up in the office of the board secretary, Patrick Broncato, at 355 E. Chicago St., in Elgin on business days between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. A school board candidate's petition must be filed in the same office no earlier than 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 20 or later than 5 p.m. on Jan. 26. Three seats on the seven-board member board of are up for election.

Algonquin puts new art on display

Algonquin will be holding a kickoff open house to debut more than 30 new pieces of art that will be displayed all over town. The free event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and will be held at Algonquin Village Hall. Light refreshments will be served and some of the artists will be on hand to talk about their work. Dundee Township Park District surveying residents

The Dundee Township Park District is seeking resident input on park services, facilities, and programs through a survey that's available either by mail or online. The data will be used to focus the park district's resources in areas that will have the greatest positive impact on residents, park district Executive Director Tom Mammoser said. Select homes will receive a survey in the mail in late October. Other residents can complete the survey at www.stfrancis.edu/solutions or can pick up a copy at the Dundee Township Park District Recreation and Fitness Center, 665 Barrington Ave, Carpentersville or at the district's administrative offices, 21 N. Washington St, Carpentersville.
