Dancer Hough to have surgery
LOS ANGELES - The pain that sent Julianne Hough from a "Dancing with the Stars" taping to the hospital has turned out to be more serious than a stomachache. - and it will keep her off the dance floor.
The 20-year-old professional dancer and country music singer, who's partnered with "Hannah Montana" actor Cody Linley, will undergo minor surgery Tuesday to remove her appendix, according to a statement posted on her Web site Monday.
"I'm actually going into surgery tomorrow to remove my appendix, but everything is OK," Hough said on the show Monday after performing a samba routine with Linley. "I'm going to hopefully be back if everything goes as planned next week."
If Linley isn't eliminated Tuesday, he will be paired with professional dancer Edyta Sliwinska.
Hough has been diagnosed with endometriosis, a common condition in which tissue from the uterus lining grows outside the uterus, causing painful cysts and possible infertility.
The growths can appear on the surfaces of organs in the pelvis or abdomen. Hough said she just found out she had the condition.
