Palatine sponsors youth art calendar contest

The village of Palatine and the Palatine Inverness Arts Council invites all students in grades K-12 to submit original artwork by Friday, Oct. 31, to Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood St., Palatine, IL 60067.

The grand prizewinner is to receive a $100 savings bond; the 12 monthly first prize winners will receive a $50 savings bond. Bonds are being donated by Palatine Bank & Trust. The 24 second and third place winners will receive $20 gift certificates from Photo's restaurant. The first and second place winners will have their artwork reproduced in the 2009 calendar which will be mailed to every resident and business in Palatine and parts of Inverness.

All media is accepted: pen and ink, charcoal, pencil, photography, oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, crayon, etc. But all artwork must be horizontal format only. Donations are still being accepted for the production of the calendar.
