McCain says Bush wrong on economy

CLEVELAND -- Republican John McCain says he's breaking with President Bush's economic policies and would put a tight lid on government spending.

Speaking in Cleveland on Monday, the Republican presidential candidate bashed Democratic rival Barack Obama but also made clear he would steer a different economic course than the current administration.

As McCain put it: "We both disagree with President Bush on economic policies. My approach is to get spending under control."

McCain says his plan will create millions of jobs, protect savings and get the stock market rising again.

McCain spoke after meeting with economic advisers including former rival Mitt Romney and former Housing Secretary Jack Kemp.
