Boys and Girls Club plans annual fundraiser
Just to let you know that there is life after the election, Jane Bolz and Krysha Sorce have been hard at work with the Club's Executive Director Curt McReynolds getting ready for the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township 12th annual dinner. It will be held Friday, Nov. 7 at Randall Oaks Golf Club and will feature a live auction, reverse raffle, music, dinner and the announcement of the Youth of the Year.
BGCDT provides children with a safe place to go after school and has programs that encourage mental, physical and moral growth. The Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township serves more than 1,200 local youth, especially those who need us most.
Through the club the youngsters have many advantages. On Saturday, Nov. 1, the brand new Sports Authority, 4700 Hoffman Blvd., Hoffman Estates has invited 10 club members, plus club staff and board of directors to the Grand Opening to meet the star of the Beijing Olympics-Mr. Michael Phelps.
McReynolds has partnered with Kid Care Medical with the organization of the Flu Shot Days for Kids. Kemper Park in Carpentersville has been the scene of the club's fall soccer program but children also were able to receive free flu shots on two Saturdays. This will have a ripple effect of making our classrooms healthier, our families healthier and our community healthier with fewer flu cases to put us all at risk.
The club also received a check for $1,000 from the Dundee Lions Club. Dr. Orawan Suchivaika helped with Kid's Care Medical $4,000 sponsorship of the Soccer League with matching gift from Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Pastor Ball of Advocate Good Shepherd Church in Carpentersville received a $500 "Unsung Hero Award" from his church and he donated it all to the club.
If you would like to join these great people in having an impact on the life of a child, come to the annual dinner on Nov. 7. Tickets are $150 which includes dinner for two and a reverse raffle ticket; or, for $100 you can buy one reverse raffle ticket with a chance to win $5,000. Some of the live auction items will include two Chicago Bulls Floor seats; two Chicago Bears versus the Jacksonville Jaguar tickets; four (2009) Chicago White Sox tickets; Hilton Head Villa Resort package and many other goodies.

Rotary Club of Dundee Township: Another supporter of the Boys and Girls Club is the Dundee Township Rotary. These good people provide everything from a Halloween party for kids with special needs, to Christmas with Santa for the underprivileged. It provides college scholarships and has been the leading force in creating the Senior Library at the Dundee Township Senior Center.
One of the club's big fundraisers is its Gourmet Citrus Fruit Sale. The citrus fruit is hand-packed in cartons containing 4/5 of a bushel of fruit. Each box contains fruits of the same size and the number of fruits per box varies with size. Typically there are approximately 40 to 44 large sweet seedless navel oranges per carton and 30 to 36 refreshing juicy pink grapefruits per carton. The cost for a carton is $30 and $20 for a half carton and $25 if you would like a mixed oranges and grapefruit half carton.
Use fruit as a special gift for friends, family, business associates (or horde them for yourself). The fruit is delivered the beginning of December. To place your order, call Richard Manarchy at (847) 649-82 47, or (630) 659-6158, or fax to (847) 649-8249.
